1980 L-48 Chevrolet Corvette -White – Coup
This 1980 C-3 Chevrolet Corvette purchase in 2016 with goal of restoration. So, we had a local auto-shop make the corvette road worthy by, first, inspection of what should be down for safety. These cars only came one way at that time: loaded, so notable features include power windows, A/C (needs to be serviced or replacement with R134 system), AM/FM/cassette stereo radio with power antenna, and a tilt/telescoping steering column, power brakes, power steering.
This 42K mile (not validated) Corvette (VIN-1Z878AS412086) has a salvage title due to rear panel damage that exceeded the insurance appraised value.
A local auto-shop that is into refurbishing vintage cars keep the corvette for 3+ months performing $6000+ worth of upgrades: front and rear calibers, front and rear brake pads, new master cylinder, turning 4 rotors, cleaning and inspecting all brake lines, new fuel tank and sending unit, New Jasper 4 speed automatic transmission with 36k warranty, replacement of belts and hoses, ignition switch and key system, engine tune-up (including replacement of plugs and wiring, radiator coolant, and radiator cap, fuel hose, vacuum line, oil and filter and air filter, brake fluid, Premium 78 Interstate Battery), new B F Goodrich Radial P255/60R15 tires (valve stems, mounting and balance), front wheel seals, new wiper blades, LH and RH low beam headlights, air filter. The C-3 Corvette L-48, Low mileage, 41K+ miles, is at a bargain price. The engine L-48 350-cid V8, 190-hp, four barrel runs smoothly with no to minimum oil usage.
If you're looking to have some fun in a vintage car without spending a ton of money, as the owner, I stripped the interior down to bare metal, perform rust-kill and applied a mastic as a sound suppressor and rust inhibitor, installed floor pan plug set, installed new heat/air control vacuum hose kit, replace new Heater & A/C Control Assembly, replaced heater core, refurbished all Heat & A/C vacuum control units, installed headlight vacuum hose kit, installed interior light bulb kit.
